Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

To make a referral to the ADHD pathway, a full Global Developmental Assessment (GDA) must be carried out by a paediatrician, which outlines specific concerns regarding ADHD symptoms. All referrals are fully screened by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service team to determine suitability to the pathway.

ADHD Assessment Pathway

The pathway accept referrals for assessment of children aged 7 years and above who show ADHD features (hyperactivity, impulsivity, inattention) across at least two different settings, for example home and school. The process of assessment involves information gathered using screening questionnaires, school observation, full developmental history, and a clinic observation.

ADHD Post-diagnostic Pathway

The post-diagnostic pathway offers ongoing intervention reviews, for example medication reviews, behavioural strategies, as per the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence guidelines. Support is offered regarding ongoing ADHD symptoms through contact with parents and school. Additional emotional and social skills input by CAMHS professionals is offered as and when required.
